Position Overview
Outback Contractors is seeking skilled and motivated Equipment Operators to support civil construction and utility infrastructure projects across the Western United States. This role plays a critical part in executing complex construction operations that support energy, utility, and public infrastructure systems.
The ideal candidate has experience operating heavy equipment in demanding environments and takes pride in maintaining safe, efficient job sites. Operators work closely with field supervisors, project teams, and construction crews to ensure work is completed accurately and in alignment with project specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, loaders, dozers, and graders in support of civil construction activities.
- Perform grading, excavation, trenching, and site preparation work.
- Support foundation installation, underground utility placement, and site development activities.
- Maintain awareness of surrounding crew members, underground utilities, and job site hazards.
- Follow all safety procedures, job site protocols, and regulatory requirements.
- Perform routine equipment inspections and basic preventative maintenance.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and field teams to coordinate tasks and maintain workflow.
- Assist with additional construction tasks as required to support project completion.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience operating heavy construction equipment.
- Experience working on civil construction, utility, or infrastructure projects.
- Ability to work in physically demanding environments and varying terrain conditions.
- Strong understanding of construction site safety procedures.
- Ability to follow direction and work effectively within a team environment.
- Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working on transmission and distribution infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with underground utility installation.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
- Experience operating equipment in steep or remote terrain.
Work Environment
Outback Contractors operates in a wide range of environments including active utility corridors, remote terrain, and large-scale infrastructure sites. Employees should be prepared to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and adapt to changing project needs.
Travel may be required depending on project location.
